Rhinoplasty

A beautifully balanced nose that elevates the facial features around it— natural, balanced harmony. Discover Dr. Slamin’s approach to rhinoplasty in Northern Virginia and DC.

Overview

Primary rhinoplasty refines the nose so it complements your face rather than competes with it. Dr. Slamin begins with a careful assessment of nasal proportions, skin thickness, cartilage strength, profile lines, and airway. Together you’ll define priorities: smoothing a hump, straightening the bridge, refining or subtly rotating the tip, or adjusting base width, while honoring your individual and ethnic features. Based on your anatomy, he selects closed or open approaches and applies preservation and structural techniques for durable, natural balance. Our concierge care in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC emphasizes safety, comfort, and clear expectations from planning through recovery. The goal is elegant, natural, and lasting results that empower you to shine in every moment.

Dr. Slamin’s Approach to Primary Rhinoplasty

Consultation & Planning

We begin with detailed photos and facial analysis, including 3D morphing to preview likely outcomes, followed by a collaborative goals discussion. Together we’ll review options, recovery and design a personalized plan for natural, balanced results. In-person visits are offered in Tysons and Reston; virtual consultations are available.

Technical Aspects

  • Closed Rhinoplasty: Incisions hidden inside the nostrils for select refinements.
  • Open Rhinoplasty: A tiny columella incision provides enhanced visualization for precise shaping.
  • Preservation Principles: Maintain native structures when possible while refining aesthetic lines.
  • Structural Support: Cartilage shaping/grafting (e.g., septal grafts) for definition and longevity.
  • Functional Add-ons: Septoplasty/turbinate reduction/structural cartilage grafts if airflow is limited.

We select the least invasive approach that achieves your goals with durability.

Day of Procedure

On the day of surgery, you’ll check in, review your plan, and meet the anesthesia team. After gentle marking, surgery typically takes 2-3 hours. A nasal splint and bandages (and nasal packing if indicated) will be placed at the end and remain until your follow-up. You’ll recover and go home the same day with comprehensive aftercare instructions provided in advance.
